Brave Rao Amar Singh of Jodhpur slew Salabat Khan the chief treasurer of Shah Jehan in front of emperor Akbar. He then dodged a whole bunch of army commandos and got on his horse to escape. Realizing that he was trapped within the walls of the great Agra Fort with no gate open he went straight for the wall and managed to get the horse to jump right over it and escape.
Unfortunately the horse died immediately from the fall and Rao Amar Singh was instantly captured and put to death.
Positive note: Shah Jehan acknowledged the horse’s courage in attempting this and raised a red sandstone statue of it at the very spot he died.
